Master Class with Yeonjun Chang
Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Yeonjung trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia for 11 years. Yeonjung competed in the 10th Moscow International Ballet Competition and Contest for Choreographers, where she was awarded an Honorary Diploma. She went on to dance as a soloist for the Imperial Russian Ballet. She toured internationally in such performances as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, Carmina Burana, Bolero, Paquita, Sheherezade, Walpurgieva Night, Polovtsian Dance, Carmen, Divertissement. Yeonjung has also danced with the The Russian National Ballet Foundation, The Crown of Russian Ballet Theater and Choseungmi Ballet Corporation as a guest soloist. She has danced in works by Marius Petipa, Michel Fokine, Vasili Vainonen, Lev Ivanov, Alexander Gorsky, Alberto Alonso, Leonid Lavrovsky, Nikolai Androsov, Gediminas Taranda.
In 2014 Yeonjung received her specialist degree in Dance Pedagogy and Choreography with Honors from Bolshoi Ballet Academy. During her studies at the Academy, acted as a substitute teacher and professor's assistant and led rehearsals for Academy performances. She also assisted in the revival of Michel Fokine's The Dying Swan with former Artistic Director of The Bolshoi Theater, Yury Burlaka. In 2014 Yeonjung choreographed for the State Examination of Stage Character Dance for the Bolshoi Ballet Academy. In 2015 she became a faculty member at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea, taught the Vaganova ballet method, ballet techniques: Point, and Repertory, coached and choreographed for the Contemporary Ywan Ballet Company, and lectured for Universal Ballet for the Ballet Teachers Training Program. In 2016, Yeonjung substituted at the University of California, Irvine, open classes at the Maple Conservatory of Dance, and group and private lessons at Li's Ballet Studio in Los Angeles. Since 2007 she has taught summer intensive programs in Vitoria, Brazil with Imperial Russian Ballet, Moscow with Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Torino with Oxana Kichenko Ballet, New York City with Hariyama Ballet, Orange County with South Coast Conservatory, Washington D.C with Kirov Academy of Ballet.
